Now they came for Morgan Wallen

The excessively punitive response to country singer Morgan Wallen’s racial slur illustrates how tyrannical history is repeating itself. What exists today is the same oppressive atmosphere that prompted 1946 German Lutheran pastor Martin Niemoller’s poem titled, First They Came.

Today, a variation of the poem would say, first they came for Trump supporters, and I did not speak out, because I was not a Trump supporter. Then they came for My Pillow CEO Mike Lindell’s Twitter account, and I did not speak out, because I was not a My Pillow customer. Then they came for all of Morgan Wallen’s music, and I did not speak out, because I was not a Morgan Wallen fan. Then they came for me, and there was no one left to speak for me.

A tyrannical minority depends on a silent majority.
