Atlanta-based entertainment attorney returns to alma mater to receive Distinguished Alumni Award

FORT LAUDERDALE, FL — Sandra L. Brown, Class of ‘91, will return to Nova Southeastern University for homecoming, Nov. 14, 2013 to accept an NSU Distinguished Alumni Achievement Award. Currently based in Atlanta, Ga., Brown will be honored for her 18-year career as an entertainment attorney, representing a roster of multi-platinum producers, song-writers and musicians. Her clients include Universal/Republic’s inter-national recording artist Akon, whose most recent collaborative single, “Electricity & Drums (Bad Boy)” with Aude and Luciana reached No. 3 on the Billboard Dance Club Songs Chart, and new artists, such as South African born Nikki Williams, signed to Island/Def Jam Records, whose Pop/EDM track “Glowing” rose to No. 3 this past summer on the Dance/Club singles chart and Jamaican singing sensation Tessanne Chin, a top 12 contestant on the current season of NBC’s The Voice.

Brown graduated from Nova Southeastern University with a Bachelor of Science in Legal Studies in 1991. Born in England to Jamaican parents and raised in Canada. Brown was initially drawn to NSU for its diverse and welcoming atmosphere. She was a recipient of the Nova College Honors Award from 1987-1991, a result of stellar academic performance at Boyd Anderson High School in Lauderdale Lakes, Fla.

Brown is an attorney and sole practitioner of the Atlanta-based Law Offices of Sandra L. Brown, P.C., which specializes in entertainment law, intellectual property, contract drafting and celebrity sponsorship negotiation. Brown has worked with multi-platinum selling artists and producers, Jermaine Dupri, Swizz Beatz, Lil Kim, and Bone Thugs N Harmony.            Her clients have worked on a vast number of music projects for others, from the late Whitney Houston, and Michael Jackson to contemporary artists such as Cee-Lo Green, B.o.b., TI, DJ Khaled, T-Pain, Daughtry and more. She also represents reality show talent, with appearances on WE TV’s Braxton Family Values and VH1’s T.I. and Tiny: The Family Hustle.  Currently, one of her clients, Tessanne Chin, is a front-runner on NBC’s acclaimed musical reality show The Voice. Chin’s live performance on Nov. 4 of “Too Many Rivers to Cross” by Jimmy Cliffon reached as high as 25th on the iTunes singles chart.
