I want to offer my sincere condolences to the family of former Boyd Anderson High School educator, mentor and coach, David Bowden, who succumbed to the ravages of cancer recently. His accomplishments as a Cross Country & Track & Field Coach are exceeded only by the numerous young men and women he mentored during his storied career. Godspeed family! His legacy will inspire and motivate myriad people of all generations for years to come.

Though many express great pride in the noteworthy accomplishments orchestrated by Deion Sanders, his staff and players at Colorado University in Boulder,  critics, naysayers and skeptics abound. What he has done is absolutely  miraculous and deserves a closer look. Upon arriving and scrutinizing the state of the program from top to bottom, he knew drastic changes had to take place, especially from a talent perspective. Thus the releasing of many scholarship players to carve a different path while simultaneously infusing the program with FBS caliber players. That was not the situation at Oregon when the new coach took the reins. The Buffs finally met a more athletically and physically talented  team. Because of his bravado, many took pleasure in the defeat. Frankly, if he doesn’t win another game, his season has been an enormous success. This is a mere chapter in a book that hasn’t reached its conclusion.

The Miami Marlins are a very good team with young, developing talent competing as we speak for a playoff spot.  We know South Florida is a difficult market, particularly when so many professional teams have or are enjoying success, i. e., the Panthers, Heat, Inter Miami and the Canes. However, it’s time to help them make the playoffs by attending whatever home games remain. Let’s show them that we care!
