In our community, family means everything. It’s the bond that carries us through challenges, the love that comforts us, and the commitment that strengthens us. For many of us, pets are part of that family story. A loyal dog guarding the front porch or a gentle cat warming our lap is more than companionship—it’s family. And just like any family member, they deserve care, protection, and love.

Broward County Animal Care is the County’s official pet adoption and animal welfare agency. We are proud to work alongside our community to achieve this mission. We believe that every resident who desires a pet deserves one, all pets deserve safe and loving homes, and that families should have the resources to make pet ownership easier and healthier.

That’s why all adoptions are free. Every dog and cat comes vaccinated, spayed or neutered, and ready for a forever home. It’s our way of ensuring that cost never stands between a family and the joy of welcoming a pet. There is only a $25 pet registration fee.

We also provide affordable vaccines and veterinary care, because healthy pets create  healthier communities. To make it even easier, we bring our wellness clinics directly into neighborhoods—at trusted places like the Tyrone Bryant Library and Carver Ranches Library. These outreach events meet people where they are, offering convenience and care right in the heart of our community.

And when pets get lost, our registration and licensing services make sure they can find their way back home quickly.

Our mission isn’t just about animals—it’s about people, too. It’s about building stronger families, safer neighborhoods, a more compassionate community, and a responsive animal welfare agency. Whether you adopt, volunteer, or simply spread the word, you are part of that mission.

Because pets are family too—and every family deserves love.

Visit your official pet adoption and animal welfare agency at 2400 SW 42 Street, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33312, or online at Broward.org/Animal.
