By Don Valentine and Nicole Nutting

She said: Florida may be known as the “Sunshine State”, but I have to ask, does the sun only shine on rich White folks there?  In 1998, Florida created the Florida Central File to combat voter fraud in the 1997 Miami mayoral election.  Scores of people were purged from voter registration lists.

The malfeasance that got them purged was having names similar to those of convicted felons.  Felons are still remanded from their ability to vote. According to the Palm Beach Post, African Americans accounted for 88% of those removed from the rolls but were only about 11% of Florida’s voters.  Don, tell me if that is a fair election for people of color.

He said:  Your point is so valid!  We need to activate as a viable voting tool to protect our rights.  Being passive maneuvered the majority Black democratic state of Mississippi to be redistricted to protect a White minority populace.  People, we have to stop “Talking about it and Be about it!”

She Said: Conservatives will try every dirty trick to make voting hard for Liberals. The plain and simple truth is this: when minorities don’t vote, the GOP wins elections. Life then gets harder for everyone who isn’t White and rich.  The 2018 “Blue Wave” was a spectacular success! The 2020 election is even more important–we can’t let our guard down now!

He Said: The translation of the popular phrase “Woke” urges you, me and our readers to get active!  Sitting on your hands is not a viable tactic. Nicole, you have seen the impact of life term nomination for judges to Federal Court.  Another term of Trump’s agenda will affect at least two generations of minorities. Everyone is aware of the judicial bias that minorities enjoy.

She Said: The Trump administration has been described as “a transnational crime syndicate masquerading as a government” (journalist Sarah Kendzior). The recent Ukraine scandal bears that out.  Wouldn’t you rather have democracy?
