Real Housewives of Atlanta Star chimes in on Walk of Fame controversy

    By Naturally Moi

There are certain honors that signal that a person has finally arrived and left a mark on society. For many in the entertainment industry, nothing shouts ‘success’ more than an opportunity to be immortalized on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Just recently, singer, producer and record label owner, Babyface was given his own star on the famous walkway.

Controversial rapper Kanye West has publicly critiqued the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce for failing to recognize his fiancée, Kim Kardashian. He believes that based upon her television show and iconic status, amongst some demographics, she deserves the honor.

This has led to a larger conversation and debate about whether or not reality stars truly constitute the caliber of celebrity that the prestigious walk was intended for. What better person to weigh in than another reality star?

Real Housewives of Atlanta star, Kandi Burruss has offered her take on who should and should not receive a star. During an interview with The Jasmine Brand, Kandi was unequivocal about her opinion on the issue. She stated:

“To me, I don’t really see – not just for being a reality TV star, you have to be doing something other than reality just in order to get a star on the Walk of Fame,” she said. “I mean to me, with reality, they’re just being themselves and acting a little crazy. But the people who are on the Hollywood Walk of Fame – to me, they’ve really worked hard to earn that. So I don’t know about… that’s different.”

Kandi’s point is that simply being in front of a camera is not enough to award people with the honor. She also implies that the people who do have stars have earned them due to a demonstrable talent or area of expertise.

She does have a point. What do you think? Does being a reality TV star constitute real talent?
