Remembering Deputy Worth Joe Edwards, who was fatally shot on March 15, 1980. Deputy Edwards joined the Broward Sheriff’s Office in 1967 as a transport deputy, moving to road patrol in 1968 and then joining the civil division in 1974.

A lifelong resident of Broward County and a graduate of Dillard High School, Deputy Edwards served in the United States Army and attended Florida A&M University and the Tuskegee Institute, studying architecture. Before his career at BSO, he designed the Mount Bethel Baptist Church in Fort Lauderdale. We will never forget your service or your sacrifice.

    Rest in peace, Deputy Edwards.
