“Threats to the U.S. Constitution and the American people constitute an abomination when orchestrated by their government.” John Johnson II, 07/03/25
By John Johnson II
Who are these aliens living in America that the Republicans speak of with such disdain and contempt? Are they invaders from a foreign land? Are they creatures from another planet? No. The aliens Republicans often vilify are human beings-men, women, and children-who may look, speak, or pray differently than what they consider “American.”
But let’s be clear. The term “alien” isn’t just about immigration status-it’s about exclusion.
Republicans have transformed it into a rhetorical weapon, used to marginalize entire communities. It’s easier to condemn a people when you first strip them of their humanity by labeling them “illegals” or “aliens.”
The irony is, unless one is Native American, we’re all descendants of immigrants. Yet, Republicans, whose ancestors may have arrived on these shores by choice, often forget or ignore that many others arrived in chains, or fled here seeking refuge from violence, poverty, or persecution.
What’s more, Republicans have weaponized the immigration debate to instill fear, distort facts, and sow division. They claim these “aliens” are threats to jobs, safety, and culture. But the real threat is the erosion of empathy and the manipulation of patriotism to justify cruelty.
We should ask ourselves: Who are the real aliens in this nation? Those seeking opportunity, or those denying it to others in the name of nationalism? Those who believe in the promise of America, or those trying to close the door behind them?
History will not look kindly on policies built on fear and prejudice. Nor will it forget the voices whose Page stayed silent while others were demonized. In the end, it’s not borders that define us, but our humanity.
YOU BE THE JUDGE!
