    Rev. Asriel McLain of   Shreveport, Louisiana, and a native of Ruston, Louisiana,  has been invited to serve as Guest Chaplain for United States Senate, delivering the opening prayer on Tuesday, June 13, 2023 at 9 aa.m., Central Standard Time. The opening ceremonies of the United States Senate can be seen either on C-Span2(Senate channel) or SenateLive.gov. Pastor McLain is the youngest son of the late Reverend Claude Clifford and Mrs. Mildred Oliver McLain and the brother of  Dr. Clifford Eugene McLain, pastor of the historic Little Union Baptist Church of Shreveport, Louisiana. He is a 1971 graduate of  Ruston High School, Ruston, Louisiana, being one of the first Blacks to attend that school. Reverend McLain   is a 1975 Magna Cum Laude graduate of the historic Bishop College, Dallas, Texas,  and earned his Master of Divinity degree from Princeton Theological Seminary, Princeton, New Jersey in 1978. He is also the Editor of the newsletter for the 13th District Baptist Association Newsletter, Dr. Robert Hudson, Moderator, the Immediate Past District Chaplain of the Ninth District of The Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. of which he is a life member.  Active in the Rho Omega chapter of his beloved fraternity, he is also  a member of the North Louisiana Civil Rights Coalition and a member at large of the Home Mission Board of the National Baptist Convention, USA, Inc.
