He said: Hey pal, did you know that California Governor Gavin Newsom is contributing to diversity in the Senate. He appointed the state’s Secretary of state Alex Padilla to replace Kamala Harris Senate seat.

That marks the 1st Latino Senator from California! That brings the total to 5 Latino Senators.  The country still has progress to be done for Black Senators. Amazingly we in our almost 240 years have had only 10 Black Senators. Nicole, what posture does that say for our country?

She said:  Well Don, you know that California is on the leading edge of Progressive politics. Be grateful that we have a Democratic governor to appoint Kamala’s successor ; otherwise, the US Senate would already be lost to us despite the Georgia run-off election. You’re welcome, no applause necessary!

Governor Newsom picking a person of color was definitely icing on the cake. It is high time the Senate stopped looking like the membership of an exclusive country club. Biden wants his administration to “look like America”. The Senate hasn’t gotten the memo! It may be one step at a time, but Brother, every step counts!

He said: Sister, thankfully the last administration is exiting. Now our country can get back to making more positive steps. It is certain President-elect Biden is going to get subtle counsel from #44. Think about it, after 8 years together they bonded as close friends. The future portends well for our union to become a global leader again. Our current President sadly managed to deteriorate our global stature.

She said: Now that we’re “Ride in with Biden”, I believe we’re going to see the whole spectrum of diversity in positions of power. In a nod to the L.G.B.T.Q. community, Pete Buttigieg is up for the head of transportation. There are women of every color on the Biden wish list for other cabinet positions. Can you believe it, soon America won’t be embarrassed on the world stage every single day!
