Should We Stay Home or Mail In A Vote?

By Don Valentine and Nicole Nutting

He said: The Constitution mandates that we have a Presidential election in less than 200 days. Come November, no matter the barometer of this crisis, it will happen. I am not a smart man, but the easy solution would be Vote by Mail.

The President would enjoy a legal structure to push the election back 18 or 24 months until it is safe to have a standard gathering.  Thankfully, it would take a Constitutional amendment.  Those are difficult, and there are only 27 that have been ratified. For the readers who did not go to law school, to even get a Constitutional amendment considered you need to have ⅔ support vote of the House and the Senate. Then later, to finalize it, you need a ⅔ vote of all the states = 38 to pass the amendment.

She Said: Wake up Don! Do you think Trump cares about the Constitution and operating the country lawfully? Heck no! “King” Trump would simply announce the election was canceled, like it or not. He seems content to let Covid-19 kill off hordes of voters, which is arguably the ultimate in voter suppression. I guess he doesn’t need voters if democracy is dead too.

He Said:  To counter Trump’s dream of pausing the election, the task is to get all our readers to Register and put in a mail vote!!  What do you think Nicole?  Vote or just ignore it?

She Said: Wisconsin voters risked their lives to vote in their recent primary, and some are now Covid positive. Hopefully, the rest of us will be able to vote safely by mail in the November election, but one way or another we HAVE to do it. The consequences of a second Trump term are just too horrific to contemplate.
