As you proceed south along the coast of the Atlantic Ocean on South Ocean Boulevard in Palm Beach County, Florida, you will enter the city of Delray Beach with a population of just over 67,000. This is the home of the historic Lambda Alpha Alpha Chapter (“LAA”) of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.

    Brother Anthony Barber

On March 15, 2025, Brothers David Dickerson and Anthony Barber organized and planned for  45th Charter Day Celebration at Pompey Park.  A semi-open grill filled with arranged racks on wheels was delivered to cook the best burgers, chicken, hot dogs, and ribs prepared by the famous Troy’s Barbecue.  Brothers Dickerson and Barber planned for a feast of the nearly 80 plus membership.  When the brothers convened, they enjoyed the great weather, music, and of course, the scrumptious meal.

Brother Basileus Anthony Robinson and Brother Wilbert Borwn, Charter Member

In reflecting on the celebration, Brother Dickerson remarked, “In organizing this event, it showed the true meaning of brotherhood.  The amount of support was phenomenal. I express a sincere thank you to the brothers for making this one of the best Charter Day Celebrations.  I extend a special thank you to Brother Barber for the generous donation and assistance and Brothers Galvin Decius and Keyon McDavis for your help.”

LAA was chartered on March 15, 1980 and included the following charter members: Brothers Richard Brown, Wilbert Brown, Wendell Duggins, Charles Fletcher, Walter Hughes, Roy Ishman Mitchell, Dr. Virgil Norris, and Lennoris Rosier. The 30th Grand Basileus, Brother Dr. Edward Braynon, Jr., conducted the chartering ceremony.

LAA celebrates 45 years of active service in Palm Beach County, Florida.  Recently, LAA received 5 Proclamations for its outstanding work in the community from the Florida Senate, Florida House of Representatives, Palm Beach County Board of County Commissioners, Boynton Beach City Commission, and Delray Beach City Commission.  Most notably, LAA painted and landscaped the homes of 22 caregivers and seniors, awarded more than $300,000.00 to high school seniors, showcased the creative talents of students at its Talent Hunt Program,  serve as the lead of the Delray Beach Street Adoption Program for the 10th Avenue Corridor for the last 20 years, and hosted the Gala.
