DELRAY BEACH, FL – On August 28, 2025, The Spady Cultural Heritage Museum will kick off Give 8/28 to raise money for its 100th anniversary “The House Still Stands” fundraising campaign.

The fundraising day comes as Black-led and Black-benefitting organizations across the country participate in Give 8/28, a national day of giving hosted by the Young Black & Giving Back Institute. Give 8/28 is the only day of giving focused explicitly on highlighting the importance of Black-led nonprofit organizations, which receive only 2 percent of institutional philanthropy dollars from foundations. Give 8/28 seeks to galvanize support for organizations working at the grassroots level to empower Black communities, in areas such as education and mentoring, economic empowerment, policy advocacy, health and wellness, and more.
The Spady Museum is employing 8/28’s national, online-giving platform to raise funds recently cut from its operating budget at the state and national levels. All 8/28 proceeds will underwrite the expenses incurred to hold its signature programs and keep The Spady House an integral part of the South Florida arts & culture landscape.
“We have been in fundraising mode to ensure that ‘The House Still Stands’,” said Museum Director Charlene Farrington. “In 2026, The Spady House will be 100 years old. The museum has operated out of the historical home for 25 years, bringing the community together around Black history. We are asking the community, our patrons, supporters and friends to donate during this day that recognizes the important contributions of Black-led nonprofits across the country.”
