Q&A: What does Reverend Deal say this week?

‘The spirit of the antichrist is alive and kicking’

Question: What is the Antichrist according to the scriptures?

Answer: In the scriptures the “antichrist” is critical with the last events of this present age. The word “antichrist” comes from two Greek words- christos meaning ‘Christ’ and anti which means against. The name “antichrist” is found only in the epistles of John (1 John 2:18, 22; 4:3; 2 John 7). According to John the antichrist is one coming in the last days or the last times, and one whose spirit is already present in world. Although the antichrist will not be revealed until after the Rapture, the spirit of antichrist is “alive and kicking” and will continue to possess any human parallel to Satan.

In Isaiah 14:4-17, speaks about ‘the kings of Babylon’ a type of Satan. The ‘great harlot’ in Revelation 17:5 is an anti-God religion. Through-out biblical and modern history powerful rulers have been motivated by the spirit of the ‘antichrist’. Some titles of ‘antichrist’ are (1) beast – Revelation 13:1-4, 12-18 (2) The little horn – Daniel 7:8; 8:9 (3) The wicked one – 2 Thes-salonians 2:8 (4) The Foolish Shepherd – Zechariah 11:15-17.

With the proper spiritual guidance (pastor, evangelist, minister, church school instructor, bible study) the Books of Daniel and Revelation will reveal prophetic overtones concerning the ‘Antichrist” and his works that will enhance your spiritual intellect.

Jesus says that we should ‘watch and pray always that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man’ (Luke 21:36).
