ST. RUTH MISSIONARY BAPTIST CHURCH is an historic church in Dania Beach, Florida. Founded by Charles Chambers in 1908, it was was the first Black church in Dania and housed the first “colored” school in the town. We are currently accepting applications for the position of Pastor.
General Description of Responsibilities. The Pastor is the spiritual leader of the church. He/she is responsible to the Lord and the church to primarily proclaim the gospel and teach the bible. He/she is to be engaged in pastoral care, provide supervisory and administrative leadership in all areas of congregational care including paid and volunteer staff.
We seek a Pastor with the following qualifications:
▪ Dedicated to GOD.
▪ Must be Licensed and Ordained.
▪ Pastoral experience, or a minimum of 5 years in the ministry and or actively involved in church leadership experience.
▪ Have a thorough knowledge of Missionary Baptist policy, doctrine, and beliefs.
▪ Able to pastor all age groups.
▪ Be in good standing with current church.
▪ Community Outreach/Evangelism
▪ Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
▪ Spend significant time in prayer and Bible Study.
▪ Open to new ideas.
The following administrative qualifications are required but not limited to:
▪ Proclaim the Word of God in a regular pulpit ministry.
▪ Plan and conduct worship services: prepare and deliver sermons and lead observances of the church by -laws.
▪ Provide leadership and vision for the church. Direct plans for ministry and church growth.
▪ Lead the church in planning, organizing, directing, coordinating, and evaluating all church programs and ministries in conjunction with Deacon and Trustee Boards.
▪ Participate in evangelism efforts through preaching and giving invitations during worship services, revival or other special services, visitation, and other outreach efforts.
▪ Work with Deacons, Board of Trustees, Church officers, and committees/auxiliaries as they perform their assigned responsibilities. ▪ Moderate all business meetings of the church. (Quarterly and or as deemed necessary). ▪ Perform Baptism, Christening (baby dedication), Wedding Ceremonies and Funerals. ▪ Facilitate the contact/visitation of hospitalized, sick, home-bound, or grieving church members. ▪ Maintain and implement a plan for regular contact with church members. ▪ Have no respect of persons.
