Taravella boys and girls track and field teams won the District Championships, with many athletes winning individual district titles including Scary Fils, 1600 meters champion who was apart of the winning 4 x 800 relay with Elijah Vessells, Akeem Beckford, and Ali Mustafa. In addition Fils finished second in the 800 meters, teaming with Vessells, Maleek Lubin, and T’Yquez Jenkins. The 4 x 1 team didn’t fair quite as well, finishing third. Members of that group were Ray Graham, Miles Green, Ja’Michael Barnes, and Quentin Toussaint.

He received his education from the Broward County School System; Bethune Elementary in Hollywood, FL, later the family moved to Fort Lauderdale, FL where he attended Rock Island Elementary, Everglades Junior High (presently William Dandy) and Piper High School class of 1973. He played on Piper’s Varsity Basketball Team.
At the recent 2023 World Athletics Championships in Budapest, Hungary, Richardson won the Women’s 100 meters in record time – 10.65 seconds, the fastest time in the event’s history. It was her personal best and is .16 seconds behind the 1988 world record set by beloved sprinter Florence ‘Flo-Jo’ Griffith-Joyner. Joyner’s record of 10.49 still stands.
