In 2022, Darius V. Daughtry, one of South Florida’s best-known poets, authors, directors and educators, presented a stage reading of Seeking, where he explored a journey of self-discovery in the midst of an everchanging world. Now he brings his well-received work to the stage in this new full production with performances on Friday, July 26 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, July 27 at 2 and 7 p.m. in the Amaturo Theater at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts.   

     When the word CANCER is mentioned, many people cringe. Some of you have only seen the damage cancer can do, and others have been through the grueling process of treatment and the blessings of recovery. Deetra Sands Durham is a native of Broward County, a graduate of Saint Thomas Aquinas High School, Spelman College, active in Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated and her church, to name a few. 

Iota Phi Lambda Sorority, Incorporated’s mission is “to unite in a sisterhood qualified business and professional women who are encouraging, inspiring, nurturing, and assisting persons engaged in business and professional vocations & entrepreneurial ventures.” For the new sorority year, Gamma chapter’s membership looks forward to building connections, while continuing existing ones and serving the local Washington, DC community under its new leadership.

Dr. Jessika S.  Timmons, a native  of Lauderhill, Florida had the distinct pleasure of being sworn in by the Broward County School Board on Tuesday, October 17, 2023, as Assistant Principal of Bennett Elementary School. This promotion is well-deserved and shows proof of her dedication to her students and community

      President Joe Biden on Monday, Dec. 11, announced the first preliminary agreement under the CHIPS and Science Act to bolster America’s semiconductor industry and strengthen national security. The groundbreaking deal, aimed at revitalizing U.S. leadership in semiconductors, already has spurred over $230 billion in planned investments in the sector since its inception.

     Known as “Coach Bev,” Kearney’s Texas teams won three NCAA women’s outdoor track championships (1998, 1999, 2005) and four women’s indoor track titles (1992, 1998, 1999, 2006), with at least half of these crowns won before she reached age 30.
