Today, Leon County Sheriff Walt McNeil released a statement endorsing Sheriff Gregory Tony. Sheriff McNeil, the first black sheriff of Leon County, was also formerly Tallahassee Chief of Police when Tony applied to be a member of the local police department in 2003.
