Ā Ā Ā Ā  During her conversation with Attorney General Campbell, Vice President Harris emphasized the urgent need for Black voters nationwide to make their voices heard. The Vice President also highlighted the need to take action and remain vigilant to increasing attempts to silence and disenfranchise Black communities as it relates to critical issues ranging from affirmative action, to gun violence and reproductive rights.

The Greater Miami Conven-tion & Visitors Bureau (GMCVB) has appointed Graylyn Swilley-Woods, Ph.D., as the new director of the GMCVB’s Black Hospitality Initiative (BHI). In her new position, she will be responsible for leading BHI’s mission of advancing opportunities and increasing workforce participation for African Americans and Black people of African descent in Greater Miami and Miami Beach’s visitor industry through scholarships, talent development and job referral programs.

Ā Ā Ā Ā  June is Pride month in the United States. In big cities and small communities, LGBTQ+ people and their friends, families, and allies will celebrate freedom and progress toward full equality. All fair-minded Americans can celebrate that progress. But there is a growing shadow over this year’s celebrations. The far-right political movement is aggressively trying to turn back the clock to a time when LGBTQ+ people were not treated equally under the law. Anti-equality legal groups and anti-equality politicians are pushing legal and political attacks on our most vulnerable young people. MAGA movement political operatives are trying to win elections by stirring up fear and hatred against LGBTQ+ people.

Even after over 635,000 have died in the U.S. as a result of the coronavirus, some celebrities have continued to loudly protest against the advice of doctors and other medical professionals. Over 4.5 million around the world have died as a result of the pandemic.
