The Democratic Debate in Vegas was Bloody and Intense

“It took less than 10 seconds for Michael Bloomberg’s support for stopping and frisking Black men as mayor on New York City to be referenced at tonight’s Democratic debate in Las Vegas. The knives are out, folks. The debate opened with moderators immediately pitting front runner Sen. Bernie Sanders against Bloomberg over who is the more polarizing figure and which one will bring out enough votes to push Trump out of office,” says reporter Scott Shackford of the Reason.com.

This debate was not going to be polite, and everyone there had something to prove. The candidates in the February 19, debate were Joe Biden, Michael Bloomberg, Pete Buttigieg, Amy Klobuchar, Bernie Sanders, and Elizabeth Warren. Everyone was wondering how Michael Bloomberg qualified to be in the debate, but his presence energized the debate.

The atmosphere with the Democratic candidates has changed with a billionaire in the race. Everything is now serious, and everyone is ready for a fight. Bloomberg will be in the race until the end, and name recognition will not be a problem, because he will spend the money.

From this point in the Democratic campaign, every candidate will be in the attack mode with each other, and knives and bullets will be thrown. This is now a battle, and it will get nasty and bloody. Sanders’ is the new leader in the Democratic campaign, with him winning the Nevada caucus.

At the debate Sanders immediately brought up stop-and-frisk, stating that it will push away voters the Democrats need to win. Bloomberg, on the other hand, said moderate voters won’t be coming out for socialist Sanders.

Sen. Elizabeth Warren jumped in to point out that Bloomberg has said the same sort of nasty sexist things that people associate with President Trump, and has a history of hiding his tax reports, harassing women, and supporting redlining. The debate started with attacking Bloomberg, but eventually every one of the candidates began attacking each other.

This Vegas debate was mean spirited and entertaining because now the candidates were not holding back.  Buttigieg attacked Klobuchar and Klobuchar asked Buttigieg was he calling her dumb.  Biden said that NBC’s poll said he was the best equipped to defeat Trump, and Bloomberg didn’t manage the city well when he was mayor.

The debate was turning into a circus, and all of the candidates were saying things which were fact less, and some of the things made no sense. But it is a fact that Bloomberg was a Republican for three terms, as mayor of New York City. Sanders is a Democratic socialist, which makes him an independent, who may be a Democrat some of the time.

Buttigieg believes that the frontrunner Sanders wants to burn the party down, and the rich candidate wants to buy the candidacy. Bloomberg may be trying to buy the candidacy, and Trump was definitely successful. Trump is obviously a corrupt criminal, but he is still the president of the United States.

Sen. Bernie Sanders has continued his string of victories in the Democratic nominating contest, by winning the Nevada caucus. At a Texas rally Bernie told the crowd, he had motivated a “multigenerational, multiracial movement that will propel him to the nomination, and the White House. Sanders pledged to unite Americans of all races, religions, and sexual orientations in a fight for economic, social, and environmental justice,” says Trudy Ring of the Advocate.

It is way too early in the Democratic primary to make any predictions, but Sanders is making some bold statements that he has a movement across the country. For the Democrats to win in 2020, they will need a movement where the supporters are multigenerational and multiracial and motivated.

Senator Sanders appears to be on the right track and speaking truth into power.
