    Miami, FL – (January 18, 2013) – CHURCHES UNITED FOR HIV/AIDS PREVENTION
    recognizes March 3rd – 9th as The National Week of Prayer for the Healing of AIDS
    (NWPHA). The purpose of The National Week of Prayer for the Healing of AIDS is to
    bring national attention to the AIDS epidemic in the United States and the extraordinary
    role faith communities can and are playing in AIDS prevention, education, service and
    advocacy.
    Beginning Sunday, March 3, 2013 through Saturday, March 9, 2013; EVERY worship
    center, church, synagogue, mosque; as well as other faith-based organizations are
    requested to pause for a ‘moment of prayer for the healing of HIV/AIDS’ during their worship
    service where they will provide AIDS information to their communities. Congregations are
    asked to conduct at least one additional AIDS awareness activity at some point during this
    week.
    The Week-long activities include a community prayer, a prayer breakfast with a press
    conference, an HIV/AIDS forum and a Gospel concert.
    In Miami-Dade County, Churches United for HIV/AIDS Prevention is presenting its annual
    Pastoral/Ministerial Breakfast and News Conference on Tuesday, March 5th at Jordan
    Grove Missionary Baptist Church (5946 N.W. 12th Ave. Miami, FL 33147) from 9:00am –
    11:00 am.~ Reverend Douglas Cook is the Pastor and Reverend. Billy Strange, Jr. of
    Mount. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church is the featured speaker. Sing For A Cure
    Concert is scheduled for Friday, March 8th at 7:00 pm (Bethel Apostolic Temple 1855 NW
    119th St., Miami, FL 33167 ) where Reverend Carol Nash-Lester is the Pastor. Confidential
    Rapid HIV testing will be available at all venues.
    All events are free and open to the public.
