With backing from the Urban League of Broward County and Harris Chapel United Methodist Church, two developers are moving forward with The Villages at Oakland Park, a mixed-use affordable housing project in Broward County. The development is planned for a 19.4-acre site currently under contract with Broward County Public Schools.
The project will feature 114 townhomes and 355 apartments, aimed at residents earning between 30% and 120% of the area median income (AMI). Currently, the AMI in Broward County is reported to be $82,100.
In addition to the residential component, plans include 821 parking spaces within a 34,429-square-foot parking garage, a 7,638-square-foot learning center, a church, a community facility, and a life enrichment center. The tallest building on-site will not exceed five stories.
Site planning is being managed by Atwell LLC, while South Florida-based Zyscovich Architects and Design2Form are serving as the architects. The development is seeking funding through a combination of donations, private sector investments, conventional financing, and social impact funding.
The Villages at Oakland Park will be located at 2301 Northwest 26th Street in Oakland Park, FL, just west of I-95 and south of Paradise Island RV Resort.
