Trump the Former President

Trump the former president sat in the White House.

Trump the former president had a great fall.

All the former president’s enablers, children, and voters couldn’t keep him in the White House, as of Tuesday, November 3, 2020.

Should his deeds as president prove criminal rather than legal, he may end up in the jailhouse.

————————

Americans fantasized that Trump’s presidency was a fairy tale; but each day revealed differently. Far too many people thought that a wealthy businessman who talked tough, offered nonsensical promises, and lacked scruples would somehow make for a great president.

Trump’s ineptitude remained tolerated  because of a booming economy, a sizzling Wall Street, and a selfish desire of Republicans to fill judicial judges’ positions, as well as those on the Supreme Court.

However, Trump’s fairy tale like presidency turned disastrous by COVID-19, and quickly became more like tales of death and suffering. Because he panicked, he lied about the dangers the virus posed and failed to protect the Nation.

Consequently, millions of people became infected, and hundreds of thousands died. Suddenly, people began to realize that Trump really wasn’t up to the task as president.

Trump’s day of reckoning CAME Tuesday, November 3, 2020. Once again, voters got to demonstrate that this is a government of, for, and by the people. An unfit president can escape punishment by a Senate more beholding to their party, rather than to the Constitution.

Trump and no unfit president will ever be able to escape the wrath of voters who’ve grown too tired, too fed-up, too united, and too patriotic to allow this democracy to suffer the same fate as Rome. Therefore, protecting  voters’ rights is essential to maintain our “republic.”

There’s an old Black spiritual entitled, “I Don’t Feel No Ways Tired,” that fuels the souls of believers to never give-up. One could add a line to the chorus that should surely bring tears of joy to voters’ eyes that reads, “God didn’t bring us this far to leave us again with Trump.

While prayer is good, all democratic souls headed to the polls and voted to ensure Trump had a thunderous fall from the White House. This fairy tale like presidency, which became America’s nightmare, only ended temporarily. Trump created and continues to tell his own deceptive fairytale entitled, “My Stolen Presidency.”

Trump, rather  than accepting his defeat,  plotted a coup that turned into a failed insurrection on January 6, 2021. Unbelievably, this didn’t prevent Trump from committing  allegedly dozens  of additional criminal offenses. Does Trump  delusion of still  being president convinces him that the   (DOJ’s)  letter protects him from  indictment?

The recent criminal offense Trump allegedly committed raises his state of mind  from delusionary to first degree insanity if there’s such a category. What sane person, who  managed to become president, steals  highly classified documents from the White House and hides them in his desk draw?

The former  president’s behavior and state of mind suggests that he represents a clear and present danger not only to our Nation, but to world peace. At this very moment, we don’t really know what “Top Secret”  information he may have copied and plans to use to trigger a major conflict,  if he’s indicted. Hopefully, his 24- hour protection by the Secret Services, also keeps us safe.

I think it’s fitting to end this article with a favorite folktale, “The Emperor’s New Clothes.”  The part that I like best  is when the little boy yells, “He’s Naked! However,  in a revised version, the little boy yells, “Why is Mr. Trump wearing that orange jump suit with his hands  buckled behind his back?”

Let’s hope former president Trump’s indictment, prosecution, and conviction, if found guilty, becomes a reality, rather than a  mere  folktale .
