“The U.S. Constitution in the hands of men without integrity ceases to be a living document but rather a mere relic.” John Johnson II 05/15/25By John Johnson II
The U.S. Constitution clearly has a loophole that allows a former President to serve a third term in the White House, but not as President. The maneuver available to President Trump, is that he runs on the Republican’s 2028 Presidential ticket as the Vice-Presidential nominee and JD Vance as the Presidential nominee. However, the Republican Party could nominate a new Presidential candidate.
There is no amendment in the U.S. Constitution that prohibits a two termed President from running on a Presidential ticket as the Vice President. Though preposterous, President Trump, if chosen by the Democratic Party, could even run as the Vice-Presidential nominee on their Presidential ticket.
Certainly, if the Republican Party Presidential candidate is victorious in 2028, as President he could happily assign all duties requested to former President Trump who would then serve as the duly elected Vice President or de facto President.
Coincidentally, President Trump before the end of his current term, could have a second Presidential Office remodeled for his running mate. This way no additional expenditures would be necessary to relocate President Trump’s memorabilia.
Despite this available maneuver, there is no way for any candidates to escape the wrath of voters.
