We must vote in the August 2014 Elections

VoteWe must vote in the August 2014 Elections

Many of us think we only have to vote in the presidential elections and that our voting responsibility was finished once President Barack Obama won the presidency in 2008 and 2012. That erroneous idea kept us from voting in other elections and that idea got Republican majority in the United States Congress and caused President Obama to be unable to get his programs passed by a Republican dominated Congress.

African American Latinos and women must vote in every election and since churches are the focal part of the community, it is important for:

1. Church personnel to remind their congregations to vote in every election, particularly the August 2014 election.

2. Churches to use their buses and vans to transport people to the polls during Early Voting and on Election Day.

By doing these two initiatives, there is no cost to the churches because these resources are already available. Additionally, churches are not telling congregations who to vote for; they are only encouraging their congregation to vote. It would be very effective if churches all over the country would follow these two initiatives.

Early Voting will take place August 15 – August 24, 2014, from Monday-Friday; 11 a.m.to 7 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 7 to 3 p.m. Election Day is Tuesday, August 26, 2014 from 7 a.m.to 7 p.m.

Absentee Ballots must be in the Election Office by 7 p.m., on Election night, which is Tuesday, August 26, 2014.

WE MUST VOTE IN LARGE NUMBERS!!!! WE CANNOT MAKE PRESIDENT OBAMA “A SITTING DUCK: FOR THE REMAINDER OF HIS TERM!
