What to the Slave is the Fourth of July?

“He who kidnaps a man, whether he sells him or he is found in his possession, shall surely be put to death.” Exodus 21:16 (NAS)

It is with tormented difficulties that I should join in celebration of this day of national independence. This is due to the lack of forward progress which has been masked in the hidden agendas of a racist leadership whose sole purpose is to keep alive the hope of oppression on a colored race of people.

The jeremiad that was so eloquently spoken by Frederick Douglass on July 5, 1852 is still shaping the infrastructure of the immoral and unethical behaviors of those politrickians who skew and distort the laws to fit their wicked ways.

“What, to the American slave, is your 4th of July? I answer; a day that reveals to him, more than all other days in the year, the gross injustice and cruelty to which he is the constant victim. To him, your celebration is a sham; your boasted liberty, an unholy license; your national greatness, swelling vanity; your sound of rejoicing are empty and heartless; your denunciation of tyrants brass fronted impudence; your shout of liberty and equality, hollow mockery; your prayers and hymns, your sermons and thanksgivings, with all your religious parade and solemnity, are to him, mere bombast, fraud, deception, impiety, and hypocrisy — a thin veil to cover up crimes which would disgrace a nation of savages. There is not a nation on the earth guilty of practices more shocking and bloody than are the people of the United States, at this very hour.” —Frederick Douglass, July 5, 1852.

How can America be any different 162 years later when our rights afforded to us by the constitution of the United States of America are being painfully and meticulously stripped away like the skin from a slave’s back when the whip in the hands of a vile and ruthless slave master is embedded with the only purpose to demoralize and brake the slaves will to live?

Sure we have made gains as a society of part human beings and the other like ‘Lycans’ (from the movie The Rise of the Lycans. Lycans were slaves of aristocratic vampires.)

To be of the mind-set that would strip the voting rights away from a selected race of people and not want everyone to have equal access to affordable health care, which just happen to be this same race of people, is not worthy of being celebrated with in the same vein as a proud American in cele-bration of National Independence.

At what time in American history has its president been so disrespected out of contempt lined with racism seeded with hate and fertilized with jealousy?

This portrait painted of a “new” America is just a luke-warmed over version of a time when domestic servitude of a Negro was common place but now this Negro happens to be the President of the United States-“YOU LIE!”

Without a conscious it is expected that the “new” evolution of the Negro, now a Black or an African American, should readily, “go along to get along”; I DON’T THINK SO!

It’s a brand new day and we will not go “gentle into that good night”.

If we do participate in any celebratory exercises related to National Independence let us revel in the accomplishment of getting America’s first Black president re-elected-IT IS A MUST!

“Go where you may, search where you will, roam through all the monarchies and despotisms of the Old World, travel through South America, search out every abuse and when you have found the last, lay your facts by the side of the everyday practices of this nation, and you will say with me that, for revolting barbarity and shameless hypocrisy, America reigns without a rival.” —Frederick Douglass, July 5, 1852
