Essie Mae Thomas answered God’s call
Essie Mae Moore Thomas was born November 3, 1924 to the late Rev. Harvey Moore and Louisa Kenon.
She was educated in Mid-Way, Florida’s school system.
Essie met and married the late Andrew Glover and to this union a daughter, Angela Glover-Harrison was born and preceded her in death. She later met and married the late James Willie Thomas and to this union six children were born. A daughter, Gloria Thomas-Avery, preceded her in death.
She worked for the State of Florida Family and Children Services and retired at the age of 75. When she retired, she visited the sick and took the “elderly” to doctor’s appointments and shopping.
She received Christ at an early age. She joined Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Coes. She continued to serve under Rev. O.C. Allen and now Dr. James B. Darling, Jr. She was a faithful servant. She served as the secretary of Sunday school and Mission Ministry; and if something was not right she would speak her mind. She loved God and everyone around her.
