Mrs. Carrie Thomas, who turned 101 years old on August 5, 2019, has been a member of the New Mount Olive Baptist Church since 1933. She was born in 96 South Carolina, a small town between Greenwood and Greenville, South Carolina. She is pictured here in church at the New Mount Olive with her son Earl Thomas, the first Black Highway Patrol Examiner in Broward County. Earl, who was born January 28, 1936, three years after his mother joined New Mount Olive, fondly remembers his mother and father who were sharecroppers here in Broward County picking beans and having to work the farms in Pompano Beach Florida.
