Meet Inez Long, president and CEO of the Black Business Investment Fund (BBIF), a non-profit, mission-driven, Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) that helps Florida businesses thrive by providing loan capital alongside with business development training. Under her leadership since 1991, BBIF has provided over $47.6 million in loans to over 406 Black and minority businesses and has created and sustained over 12,906 jobs.

Meet Henry Schipes, the owner of Mr. Discount Plus Store, a Black-owned convenience store in Bakersfield, California that has continued to operate for 70 years and still remains strong until today. The family-run business is proud to celebrate, not just their successful years in the business, but also their long-term service to the community!

Katherine Johnson played a pivotal role in the outcome of the space race during her 35-year career at NASA and its predecessor, NACA. Without her accomplishments and those of her fellow Hidden Figures, which went largely unrecognized until the last decade, the outcome of the Space Race may have been quite different. Her achievements and impacts on our country are great, and her loss will be felt by many. I send my heartfelt condolences to her loved ones and colleagues,” NASA said in a statement.
