NNPA NEWSWIRE â If you always do things for your child, and always tell them what to do, they will not be able to make their own decisions and learn how to be independent. One good rule of thumb for parents of toddlers: whenever possible, avoid doing things for your child that they can do on their own.

    Since taking office, I have been committed to enhancing the Broward Sheriffâs Office (BSO) to better protect and serve our community. Our six core initiatives, known as the BSO Pillars, have been instrumental in driving progress towards a more progressive, transparent, and efficient public safety organization.
 America finds itself involved in not one but three disastrous dilemmas simultaneously. The war in Ukraine, followed by the war involving Israel are deadly,  costly, and unfortunately reek with elements of war crimes. Yet of the three dilemmas, the battle to save Americaâs democracy from former president Trump, and the Republican Party constitute the greatest dilemma.
Six churches are among 39 projects being awarded grants from the National Park Service to preserve historical examples of the Civil Rights activism of African Americans.

   Taravella boys and girls track and field teams won the District Championships, with many athletes winning individual district titles including Scary Fils, 1600 meters champion who was apart of the winning 4 x 800 relay with Elijah Vessells, Akeem Beckford,  and Ali Mustafa. In addition Fils finished second in the 800 meters, teaming with Vessells, Maleek Lubin, and TâYquez Jenkins. The 4 x 1 team didnât fair quite as well, finishing third. Members of that group were Ray Graham, Miles Green, JaâMichael Barnes, and Quentin Toussaint.Â
    There was unanimous support for the need to rekindle the Spirit evident in our documentary âSoldiers Without Swords,â to report the news âwithout fear or favorâ and use the pages of our newspapers to âLight the Road to Freedom.â We cannot afford – literally – to fail heeding Frederick Douglassâ admonition that âPower concedes NOTHING without a DEMAND!â
   Florida A&M University (FAMU) received a $237.75 million gift from the Issac Batterson 7th Family Trust and Chief Executive Officer Gregory Gerami to support student success initiatives and athletics.
     The United Auto Workers has filed a complaint with the NLRB of illegal company captive employee meetings and firing of workers who are advocating for unionization. Spokesman for Mercedes denies those allegations. This union battle follows a massive win of workers at the Tennessee Volkswagen plant, another German auto giant in which workers chose the United Auto Workers by a landslide. In Alabama, the main issue is pay and use of âtemp workers.â A company spokesperson would not comment on pay structure.
