Following the greatest tornado damage in Leon County since 1945, Leon County Commissioner Christian Caban put forth a proposal to the Leon County Commission to utilize $1 million to afford to assist in disaster relief.  At the time the proposal was made, much of the county was still reeling from the effects of what was reported to be up to three twisters that decimated areas of Tallahassee.  The quick thinking and expeditious action by the county staff has been a breath of fresh air for many.

Randy, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from? Resilience can come from various sources, and inspiration from their surroundings can significantly influence many. Throughout my life, I have found inspiration within my environment. Observing family, friends, and others throughout the world community endure hardship has taught me the meaning of perseverance, especially when faced with adversity. I learned about faith and how to manifest more favorable outcomes through faith and work. I often drew upon the adage, “What doesn’t kill me only makes me stronger.”

In the world of politics, perception often trumps reality. This is particularly true in the case of Donald J. Trump, an entertainer who theatrically preformed his way into the presidency. As the difference between Trump and Biden becomes painfully clear to many of us, a significant number of voters are looking at Trump’s tenure with a growing sense of longing for the so called good old days, including the perception that they were better off economically. Today, polls suggest that voters in key swing states favor Trump over Biden on economic issues by a large margin.

“All of the ingredients are there. We still have those near-record warm waters out in the Atlantic tropical-development areas that were there last year, and we no longer have (the climate pattern known as) El Nino,” Wool said. “We actually like to have an El Nino during hurricane season, because it increases wind shear over the development areas.”
