Attorney General Eric Holder goes off on Rep. Issa for “shameful” way he conducts himself

    By Your Black World

During a House Judiciary Committee Hearing recently, Attorney General Eric Holder appeared to have finally had enough of Rep. Darrell Issa’s insinuations. Holder, who is typically even tempered, tore into Issa over a question about whether Holder plans to turn over evidence of alleged violations of the Federal Records Act by President Obama‘s new Labor Secretary nominee, former Assistant Attorney General Thomas Perez. The back and forth between Holder and Issa resulted in a rather tense exchange.

When asked if he would comply with the committee’s bipartisan request for private emails from Perez, Holder said, “It’s not something that I have personally been involved in, but I will look at the request and try and be as responsive as we can.”

Issa responded that he and his committee had not seen the content of the emails, only the “to and forms”, then said he hadn’t seen the emails because Holder was preventing it.

“No, no,” Holder said in a flustered tone. “That’s what you typically do. No, I’m not going to stop talking now. You characterized as something those [inaudible] of the people in the Justice Department. That is inappropriate and is too consistent with the way in which you conduct yourself as a member of Congress.”

Issa then asked the committee chairman to “inform the witness as to the rules of this committee.”

Holder ended by calling Issa’s conduct “unacceptable” and “shameful.”
