MIAMI, FL –The FMU Lions put on a dominating performance against the Royals on senior night to win 6-0 at Orange Bowl Field. The win secures fourth place in the SUN men’s soccer standings and ensures a SUN tournament berth for the first time since 2016.
In this particular contest against a winless Royals team in conference play, Florida Memorial took an early advantage when Jeremiah Johnson found Thomas Cole for a goal off a set play. In the 18th minute, Cole found Alejandro Caicedo at the end of a throw-in who doubled the lead with a perfectly placed header. Jason Velken then tripled that lead with a clinical strike from 35 yards out that left no chance for the Royals goalkeeper.

FMU enjoyed a comfortable 3-0 lead at the break.

The Lions came out with their foot on the gas in the second half as Brad Tulley earned a penalty kick early on after being fouled in the box. Tulley connected with a golden penalty strike and goal to widen the lead in the 49th minute. Then Lions continued their onslaught as Tulley found the back of the net for the second time in the match fifteen minutes later on a masterful assist by Luis Constantini.

Tulley later linked up with Kervens Joseph in the 69th minute to give him his second goal of the season.

FMU finished the match with 16 shots, while their opponents finished with six. Eleven of those shots taken were on frame.

Lion goalkeeper Joshua Aranzazu produced four saves to finish with a clean sheet while Hardy Muguet played the final 45 minutes and also produced a clean sheet for FMU.
