New Initiative will Provide Accessible and Comprehensive Training Programs to Individuals Pursuing Healthcare Careers, Increasing Healthcare Employment and Retention

FORT LAUDERDALE, FL – CareerSource Broward embarks on a new initiative to enhance healthcare training opportunities and foster a skilled healthcare workforce after being selected by the Florida Healthcare Training Initiative (FHTI) to serve Broward County.
Under the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act, the FHTI will fund additional CareerSource Broward services, focusing on removing barriers to enrollment into healthcare training programs and increasing employment in healthcare-related occupations and retention.
To achieve the FHTI’s goals, CareerSource Broward will provide tuition assistance for high-quality healthcare training programs covering a range of healthcare occupations, including, but not limited to, nursing, medical coding, medical assisting, pharmacy technicians, and laboratory technicians. Leveraging relationships with local healthcare employers, CareerSource Broward will provide work-based learning opportunities, including apprenticeships, internships, and clinical rotations. These services offer participants the training and practical experience to be successful in their healthcare careers.

The FHTI puts emphasis on reaching individuals from underserved communities and diverse backgrounds. By expanding eligibility requirements and available services, more communities will have access to equal opportunities to enroll in healthcare training programs and attain employment.
In addition to healthcare training, CareerSource Broward will provide wraparound support services to help participants focus on training and a successful career. These services include career counseling, academic advising, mentorship programs, and transportation assistance.
The FHTI will further CareerSource Broward’s impact on job seekers looking to advance their careers in the healthcare industry.
