MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. — No. 22 Florida Memorial erased a seven-point deficit to force overtime as they pulled off the 88-83 (OT) upset over No. 14 Morningside (Iowa) at the FMU Wellness Center.

The Lions withstood a barrage of three-pointers from Morningside, who finished with 16-made three’s in a losing effort. The Lions were led by speedy guard Evan Busby, who finished with a game-high 23 points and nine boards while teammate and former NAIA All-American Chanze Cruesoe proved to be outstanding, finishing with a triple-double (16 points, 11 assists, 10 rebounds) in 41 minutes of action for the Lions, who improve to 11-1 on the year as first year head coach Delano Thomas is off to a memorable start in his debut season in Miami Gardens.

Florida Memorial returns to action on Tuesday, January 2 as they host Concordia (Quebec). Tip-off is slated for 7 p.m. at the FMU Wellness Center.
