Accused child killer set to go on trial in July, faces death penalty

By Victor Trammell

The case of 10-year-old Jade Morris, a Nevada girl who was slain last December (who is Black) has not received any national media attention what-soever.

During the first days that Morris went missing, BlackBlueDog.com gave frequent updates on the information surrounding the case.

The bad news is that the precious young girl was not found alive. The good news is that the person accused of killing her has been arrested, is in custody, and will stand trial for the horrible crime that shocked the nation.

Last month, the Clark County, Nevada District Attorney’s office announced that they will seek the death penalty for Jade’s accused killer, Brenda Stokes-Wilson. On March 6, a CBS News affiliate in Las Vegas Nevada reported the following last month about this tragic case and the upcoming court dates for the accused child killer:

“A 50-year-old former Black jack dealer will go to trial on kidnapping and murder charges in the death of her ex-boyfriend’s daughter.

Brenda Stokes Wilson entered a not guilty plea during her arraignment before Clark County District Court Judge Kathleen Delaney Wednesday morning.

According to the District Attorney’s office, its death penalty committee will seek capital punishment should it win its case against Stokes Wilson.

Stokes Wilson is due back in court for a calendar call on July 8. Her trial is scheduled to start on July 15, 2013.

She is accused of killing 10-year-old Jade Morris during a Christmas shopping outing in December, and of attacking a 44-year-old Joyce Rhone with razors at the Bellagio Casino later that night. Stokes Wilson also faces charges in that alleged attack.

Stokes Wilson was a friend of the girl’s father. Police and family members say they think the attacks were sparked by jealousy.”
