Afghanistan’s Impregnable Culture v. America’s Fragile Democracy

Americans watched in horror as Afghanistan’s Capitol Building and its government toppled with little or no resistance from Afghanistan’s U.S. trained military. But the real unseen nightmare forced upon Americans is the 20 years of senseless struggle, two trillion dollars wasted, and tens of thousands of casualties and deaths.

It’s disingenuous to call America’s occupation of Afghanistan a war. Rather, it was a senseless struggle and possibly the greatest waste of our Nation’s human and economic resources.

For 20 years, the industrial war complex reaped billions in profits. By-the-way had this been a war, the blueprint would’ve been to destroy the enemy’s will as well as capability to ever pose a threat to America. For example, Japan and Germany signed unconditional surrender documents and have remained two of our staunches allies. This travesty warrants an immediate Congressional investigation.

Afghanistan isn’t likely to ever become an ally. What we should’ve known, is that Afghanistan’s culture is as solid as granite and has survived centuries old conquests by Persians and Alexander the Great. History revealed that their successful reign was due primarily because they didn’t attempt to impose their values and culture on Afghans.

Russia and America both failed to impose a political imprint on Afghanistan. Russia’s failure resulted from attempting to install a communist and antireligious system. America failed because it attempted to transform the Afghan’s culture into a more democratic system.

A centralized government system is an insult to Afghans’ traditional ruling system. Historically, Afghanistan warlords’ rule doesn’t include women. Also, public, or private educational opportunities aren’t available to women. No matter how awful this appears, the exclusion of women is a part of their culture.

Republican conservatives don’t want women to have control over their productive rights. Thus, does this mean that Republicans have a higher moral authority than the Taliban?

Despite the recent Taliban’s resurgence and regaining total control of Afghanistan, America’s greatest threats are no longer foreign, but its own domestic terrorists.

The Taliban’s were fighting to maintain their impregnable culture which dates back to around 500 BCE. Although it has mixed with other cultures, such as Persian and Greeks, its official religion remains Islam and war lords’ rule. A government established by a colonial government will never last in Afghanistan!

America’s Democracy remains fragile simple because the Republican Party’s lust for eternal power has caused them to shed their democratic ideals.

Upon a close examination of their rhetoric, lies and deeds, it becomes obvious that they themselves are staunch white supremacists. The Founding Fathers and America’s first president, George Washington also were white supremacists as well as slave owners.

Shamefully, Republicans haven’t expressed any remorse or guilt for their behavior. Their allegiance has remained dangerously loyal to Trump and his domestic/insurrectionists terrorists.

Remember, great empires of the past crumbled primarily because of the ineptitude of its political leaders and an enabling citizenry. Our Nation has the power to preserve our fragile Democracy.

The question is, does Congress   have the will to protect, defend and pass John Lewis Voting Rights Acts and HR1, the For the People Act. This legislation will empower voters with the most powerful weapon codified within the U.S. Constitution to defeat tyranny, white supremacy, gerrymandering, and voter suppression.

The Republican Party fear Black voters more so than they fear COVID-19! Watch who they’re attacking!
