Henry Mosby, Jr., the only child of the late Henry and Josephine Mosby, was born on November 25, 1938, in Ocala, Florida. In 1945, Henry’s parents decided to move from Ocala, Florida to Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Henry received his early education in Marion and Broward Counties, graduating from Dillard High School 1956. After graduating from high school, Henry attended Kentucky State University in Frankfort, Kentucky.

Henry made the decision to leave school and enter the workforce to help support his family. On the train ride home, Henry met the love of his life. There was a mix up in the seating and a beautiful young lady was seated next to him. He started a conversation with Gwen Miller, and they talked for 457 miles, all the way from Tallahassee to Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Henry reached out to Gwen and invited her to the Student Return Ball in Miami, Florida. After that is when the romance started and in 1957, he decided to pop the question of marriage. They shared this life together and were married for 63 years, three months, and 22 days. To this union, three children were born: Rhonda, Tonya, and Stanley. He was an amazing and productive businessperson serving Broward County and the surrounding area as an Account Executive with WRBD “Rockin Big Daddy” radio station. He recently retired from Broward County Schools System, June of 2020.

Dad was a member of Mount Calvary Baptist Church, Ocala, Florida and Mount Olive Baptist Church, Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He was a great-great-great-father to us, he was a mentor to many with sound stable advice, he was friendly and outgoing but most of all he loved all his family. He was a very active member of the Dillard High School Class of 1956.

Henry leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife Gwendolyn Mosby; his three children Rhonda Mosby (Guthrie, Knoxville, TN), Tonya Mosby and Stanley Mosby; four grandchildren Analecia Guthrie, Julian Mosby, Jabari Guthrie and Aminia Guthrie; two great grandchildren Sanaa Guthrie and Messiah Mobley; first cousin Bernice Johnson (Ocala, FL), Rufus Mosby (Ocala, FL); and a host of other family in Ocala, Monticella, Sarasota, Tampa, Fort Lauderdale.
