Children and families in the Children’s Harbor Family Strengthening Program, which prevents children from entering the foster care system by improving the stability in their home lives, were recently treated to a back-to-school backpack giveaway and Fit 4 School party at Brown’s Harbor, a supportive housing community that offers on-site staff, training, and support services for young adults who have aged out of the foster care system.

     Broward Regional Health Planning Council’s (BRHPC) Community Based Workforce for COVID-19 Vaccine Outreach Program is a collaborative program that engages three community partners; mobilizes community health workers and medical professionals to educate; assists individuals in getting the vaccine; addresses COVID-19 related health disparities and advances health equity. BRHPC commends the highly specialized workforce from Holy Cross Health, Memorial Healthcare System and Mount Olive Development Corporation for a successful year.

On September 27th, Chainless Change, The Florida Courier, and the Desir family are appealing to Judge Fabienne Fahenstock of the Seventeenth Judicial Circuit Court for court-ordered release of multiple videos which captured the violent incident that led to Kevin Desir’s untimely death. Kevin, a resident of Pompano Beach, was beaten into a coma by  Broward Sheriff’s Office (BSO) staff while detained at the North Broward Bureau Detention Center in January of 2021.

      The Supreme Courts  overturning of Roe v. Wade after fifty years; thereby subjugating  women’s reproductive rights as subordinate to states interest. Consequently, the Supreme Court’s ruling in one instance disregards language in the U.S. Constitution which states that inalienable rights, “Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness,” are endowed on every human being by his Creator and are often referred to as “natural rights.”
