      The Texas Education Agency (TEA) released statewide standards for school districts to prevent the presence of obscene content in Texas public school libraries.

     Kay Slay, a Harlem graffiti artist-turned-DJ, whose work transcended multiple generations of hip-hop culture while others of his era faded, succumbed to Covid-19 on Sunday, according to multiple news outlets. He was 55.

     According to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC), 298,000 girls went missing in 2019 in the United States. The center noted that 205,802 of those missing are Black. “The FBI 2020 data suggest that number has changed,” Jefferson said. “But has it? “Part of the problem in the missing, endangered, and the exploited area is the difference in collecting and delivering data.”

      The African Methodist Episcopal Church (AME), a predominantly Black church, is facing two lawsuits alleging that the global denomination’s retirement fund was mismanaged. According to the claims, the Nashville-based church misappropriated $90 million in retirement funds intended for thousands of pastors and other church retirees.

OUTshine LGBTQ+ Film Festival Miami, internationally acclaimed as one of the largest LGBTQ+ cultural festivals in the world, will open its 24th edition with the first Florida live screening of “B-Boy Blues” (2021) at The Black Archives Historic Lyric Theater on April 22 at 7 p.m. Producer Circle members and filmmakers will enjoy a 5:30 p.m. pre-event Filmmakers Soirée. The film will be followed by a live Q & A and an opening night party featuring cast from the film, filmmakers and Vanguard honoree Venezuelan actress, model, and philanthropist Patricia Velásquez.

Funding Arts Broward (FAB), a nonprofit organization committed to preserving and cultivating the arts in Broward County, has rescheduled its fifth annual “Black & White: A Night at The Museum” special event to Monday, April 25, from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. This elegant Black and white themed cocktail party at NSU Art Museum Fort Lauderdale, open to the public, will feature an exclusive exhibit tour, live entertainment by Dillard High School Center for the Arts students, light bites, and a decadent dessert table.
