     Miami Dade College (MDC) Executive Vice President and Provost Dr. Malou C. Harrison has been selected as one of 46 emerging college and university leaders nationwide for the ACE Fellows Program, a customized learning experience that enables participants to immerse themselves in the study and practice of leadership. Participants experience the culture, policies, and decision-making processes of another institution and bring those practices back to their home campus.

     The purpose of the gala is to seek to improve the current number of Black female pilots which stands north of 150 in the United States for those holding Airline Transport Pilot, Commercial, Military and or Certified Flight instructor licenses. The first gala was held in February 2019 in Atlanta, Georgia honoring the first All-African American Female flight crew. This year the SOS brings fundraiser back to where it began again recognizing Black women who are first in their aviation careers.

     The reason for this is an increase in “correspondence audits,” which are IRS reviews of tax returns conducted by letters and phone calls rather than the more sophisticated face-to-face audits. TRAC discovered that low-income people who claimed the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) were the target of more than half of the IRS correspondence audits last year.

     For 27 years, the Games continue to be the premier showcase for Florida’s best high school hoopers, where they can show off their skills on the statewide stage and in front of college recruiters.  The 2022 class is set to make their mark on one of Florida basketball’s oldest and most historic events as they hit the hardwood in Delray Beach, Florida March 26th and Bishop Verot Arena in Fort Myers, Florida March 27, 2022.  Forty-eight competitively ranked high school seniors–comprising of 24 girls and 24 boys from South Florida and Southwest Florida–have been selected from more than 1000 seniors who were nominated by a committee of basketball experts, prep scouts, media, coaches and confirmed by RMF Magazine.

 In celebration of National Poetry Month, Pompano Beach Cultural Center is proud to present the one-woman show On Purpose, created and performed by renowned poet Ebony Payne-English. Onstage, she paints a vivid picture of femininity at the peak of its strength and in the pit of its vulnerability in the face of an HIV diagnosis. Told from the diverse perspectives of seven women, she weaves poems, monologue, song, rhyme, and colorful vernacular into an exceptional coming of age story.
