Have you ever heard Donald Trump talk about democracy, here or anywhere? He hasn’t the slightest interest in it. Governing so as to firm up accountability, transparency, and the rule of law is alien to him. What does drive him is finding ways to expand his personal power and make a profit at the same time. And he’s been pretty good at that. Here’s the short list:

Workers of color “often don’t get rained up to be superintendent or foreman, they get dedicated to labor on-site,” McCoy said.  “Construction has not done its best job in marketing itself as a career pathway for all communities. We’ve coined it ‘the FBI,’ because the way to get into construction is through your father or brother-in-law. Most of our businesses on the minority- or majority-owned side have been family-owned businesses. But I’m looking at affordable housing, knowing a lot of minorities live in it. They should see folks who look like them building the projects.”

“We really have to unlearn what we have been trained to believe is ministry,” said New Orleans minister Roosevelt Wright III who recently released an R&B single, “Emoji.” The song is main-stream, pop, and high-energy — not quite what people have come to expect for ministry music.

“The launch of BNC will be a historic event, and our highly qualified journalists are chomping at the bit to be on-air now,” says Bob Brillante, co-founder and CEO for BNC. “But if we have a chance to more than triple our viewing audience in January 2020, then this was an easy call to make.”

“It has been clear for some time that anatomically modern humans appeared in Africa roughly 200,000 years ago. What has been long debated is the exact location of this emergence and subsequent dispersal of our earliest ancestors,” Hayes told reporters. “We’ve been able to pinpoint what we believe is our human homeland.”

Twenty-one-year-old Alexis Crawford was found dead at Exchange Park in DeKalb County on Friday. Police discovered her body with the aid of her roommate Jordan Jones, reports WBS-TV.  When Crawford went missing, Jones told police the last time she saw her was on Thursday night after she’d taken Crawford, a senior at the university, to the liquor store. It’s not yet been established how the roommate knew where Crawford’s body was.

High school students from Saint Thomas Aquinas and Cardinal Gibbons in Fort Lauderdale recently participated in Holy Cross Hospital’s 15th annual “Day in the Life of a Nurse” sponsored by the Nursing Consortium of South Florida. The event offered participants an overview of nursing, career pathways and progression, educational opportunities, hospital tours, nurse shadowing, and a skills fair.

The North Broward County Links, Inc., chose who would be honored as the Power Couples based on their impact in the community. Some of the honorees were entrepreneurs, business owners, college presidents, and many more.
