     Hundreds of protestors gathered outside the Lake County Sheriff s Office on Monday night, Oct. 20 in Painesville, Ohio to protest the county working with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to detain and house immigrants who have been apprehended.

  While vacationing in Africa, I find myself surrounded by more opportunities than I can possibly see my way through this week. From the Door of No Return to the Spirit of Never Again, I find myself stripped down yet clothed in new garments — garments woven from history, hope, and a renewed sense of purpose. This journey has been more than travel; it has been transformation. Until next week, I’ll be gathering reflections, stories, and inspiration to share with you — all born from the motherland.

 A forum, Understanding Florida’s Open Carry and Stand Your Ground Laws, will be held on October 23, 2025, 7:00pm to 8:30pm. Fort Lauderdale/Broward NAACP Branch President Marsha A. Ellison,  along with guest speakers Broward County Public Defender Hon. Harold Pryor, Broward County State Attorney; Hon. Dr. Gregory Tony, Broward County Sheriff; and Judge Iona M. Holmes, Retired NAACP FTL/Broward General Counsel, will serve as forum panalits.
