Magic is in the air as The Cordish Companies Green Blazer Awards Gala & Celebration presented by Florida Blue benefits Community-Based Connections, Inc.(CBCI) at 6 p.m. on Saturday, October 11, at the Westin Fort Lauderdale Beach Resort. For the fourth year, CBCI will recognize outstanding individuals who have made a lasting impact on community health. This year’s honorees are Tim Curtin, Memorial Healthcare System; Rosalyn Frazier, Broward Community & Family Health Centers; Kathy Salerno, Broward Health and Ken Walters, Community Care Plan.

       According to the EEOC’s lawsuit, iPro Dental hired a woman in January 2023, describing her as “perfect” for the position of office assistant at its Fort Lauderdale location. The company fired her just days later after learning she was pregnant. Prior to her termination, the new employee had not been disciplined for her work performance.

Recently The American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN) hosted Florida Cancer Breakfast: Breaking Down Barriers to Access at the Florida Blue Conference Center in Jacksonville on Monday. The program brought together health care leaders, researchers and advocates to discuss how public policy can improve access to care and spotlighted the urgent need for Congress to extend the health care tax credits that help people afford health insurance on the Marketplace.
