       As the Florida A&M University (FAMU) engineering student wraps up his third internship at Florida Power & Light Company (FPL) and heads back to Tallahassee for his final year of classes, he looks to the example of his father to see how an internship can be the springboard to vast opportunities in the future.

       In 2025, “the egg cracking” can mean so many things. For a child, it’s stepping into a new school for the first time. For a teenager, it’s opening that college acceptance or rejection letter. For a young adult, it’s starting your first job and realizing the work is much harder than the interview made it sound. For seasoned adults, it’s getting news about your health, your family, or your career that forces you to adjust. And for leaders, it’s the day after the big announcement, when the applause stops and the real responsibility begins.

       Melvin Wright’s journey to AIDS-HIV awareness began over 20 years ago. He is the founder of the Speak Out Club for HIV/AIDS at Deerfield Beach High School, the only active club of its kind in the Broward County school system.

   The Hope Scholarship is for students in grades kindergarten through 12 who are enrolled in a Florida public school and have been subjected to an incident of battery; harassment; hazing; bullying; kidnapping; simple battery; robbery; sexual offenses, sexual harassment, sexual assault, or sexual battery; threat or intimidation; or fighting at school to have the opportunity to transfer to another public school with capacity or to receive a scholarship to enroll in an approved private school. Incidents reported may be investigated at the district level, however, there does not have to be substantiation on the part of the district to offer a transfer to another public school with capacity or the ability for the student to move to an eligible private school on scholarship.

       Neither leader provided any details about the meeting, and Trump took no questions at the joint news conference with Putin. But plainly, Trump left empty-handed: “we didn’t get there,” he said. “There” should mean a cease-fire in Ukraine and sanctions on Russia, as Trump has said many times. But it is Putin who can say “we got there.”

     If one examines Donald Trump’s approach to world affairs since his entry into American politics, it should come as no surprise that he has worked to undermine the United Nations.

‘It Felt Like Telling the Truth’

     You can tell the pro-life extremists. They’re the ones who want their enemies–the women and men who support a woman’s sovereignty over her own body–dead by any means at their command. Hard to get more pro-life that that.

Bishop Calvin Woods Sr., distinguished Birmingham Civil Rights leader and longtime pastor of Shiloh Baptist Church in Norwood, died on Saturday. He was 91.
