   The Black College Football Hall of Fame celebrated its 17th annual induction ceremony Friday night at the College Football Hall of Fame in Atlanta, honoring a distinguished Class of 2026 that reflects the legacy and impact of HBCU football.

More than 60 high school students were presented with $414,000 in college scholarships during Big Brothers Big Sisters of Broward County’s (BBBSBC) BIG Futures Scholar Celebration, presented by Ana G. Méndez University. The seniors who completed BBBSBC’s mentoring programs also received the BBBS honor cord as a symbol of their dedication and milestone they can proudly wear at graduation.

During our dinner conversation, I remarked that while the higher echelons of our communities may find ways to adapt and thrive, those struggling on the margins often continue to catch hell regardless of who claims victory.

   Reports indicate that Jolly is preparing to announce former Congresswoman Gwen Graham as his choice for lieutenant governor. If confirmed, the move would bring together two well-known names in Florida politics and signal an effort to build a coalition that reaches beyond traditional party lines.

       Orange County Mayor and Democratic gubernatorial candidate Jerry Demings announced Friday he is suspending his 2026 campaign after being diagnosed with a treatable form of prostate cancer.

       As Pompano Beach Postmaster, Nicole Lovett oversees delivery operations at the Pompano Beach Processing and Delivery Center (3150 NW 33 Street, Pompano Beach, FL 33069) and eight retail units serving 453,000 residential and business addresses in Coconut Creek, Coral Springs, Lighthouse Point, Margate, North Lauderdale, and Pompano Beach.  The Pompano Beach team is made up of 619 dedicated employees who provide outstanding mail and package service throughout the area.

     That response echoes across generations and it resonates deeply in the lived experience of many in the Black community. There have been times when resources were limited, doors were closed, opportunities were delayed, and yet life still demanded strength, provision, and perseverance. We all know seasons of “nothing… except.”
