     “The world is on fire” is no longer a metaphor. In the United States, that means almost 16,000 deaths per year from wildfire smoke. That number could nearly double by mid-century, according to an April analysis by the National Bureau of Economic Research. Another study this year out of Yale found that we could already be near 30,000 deaths per year, when factoring in all the additional harm to heart, lung, kidney, and mental health in the aftermath of smoke exposure.

     Hayward Hadley was born 17 Jun 1880 in Cairo, Grady County, Georgia to Harless Hadley and Mary Ellen Walton. Hayward married Victoria Farmer on 4 Oct 1908 in Jefferson County, Florida. She was born in 1890 in Jefferson County, Florida to Alex Farmer and Jennie Patton. They had 11 children. Victoria died in 1942. On 4 Mar 1944 when Hayward was 63, he second married Mable Willaford, in Bradenton, FL. No children were born to this union. Hayward died in 1967.

Victor G. Harvey, the owner of Black-owned Victor George Spirits held a groundbreaking ceremony on June 25th in Fort Lauderdale. This new building will be named The Victory Building after the historic Victory Theatre, once located on historic Sistrunk Blvd.  The 15,000 square foot facility will house a distillery, restaurant, cigar bar, whiskey lounge, event space and a rooftop bar and lounge located at 1017 Sistrunk Boulevard.   Harvey was joined at the groundbreaking event by Clarence Woods (CRA Manager), Pam Beasley–Pittman (City of Fort Lauderdale Commissioner District 3), Steven Glassman (City of Fort Lauderdale Commissioner District 2), Robert McKinzie (Broward County Commissioner District 8), Dan Lindblade (CEO, Fort Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce) and several members of the community.

Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson further warned of the broader implications of the ruling, suggesting that even a hypothetical president who commits grave crimes, such as ordering assassinations of political rivals or instigating a coup, could potentially claim immunity under the new model.
