The Committee of Theatre Owners has announced that on March 12, 2024, at exactly 6:45 pm, all Broadway theaters in New York will dim their lights for one minute to pay tribute to the iconic performer.

   With a heavy heart, we acknowledge the passing of an extraordinary alumna and public servant, Betty Holzendorf. Her passing marks the end of an era, leaving an indelible void in politics and advocacy. Holzendorf’s extensive list of accomplishments and affiliations reflects a life dedicated to improving her community and the state of Florida.

Connecting Generations through Innovation In an effort to bridge generational gaps and foster a culture of technological innovation, The Light Center is gearing up to host an upcoming technology event that promises something for everyone. Set to take place at The Light Center on March 9, 2024, the event aims to bring together individuals of all ages to explore and engage with the latest advancements in technology. Dubbed “Innovation Day ‘24,” the event is not just your typical tech extravaganza.

      Lieutenant Colonel Allen Allensworth stands courageously in the vanguard of strong Black leaders. The history books all but ignore his creation of Allensworth. Thankfully the historic African American Registry notes, “The community of Allensworth, just 70 miles south of Fresno, in Tulare county, was the first and only Black owned city in California.”

Holy Cross Health has been awarded on Newsweek’s list of America’s Best-In-State Hospitals 2024. This prestigious award is presented by Newsweek and Statista Inc., the world-leading statistics portal and industry ranking provider. The awards list can be viewed on Newsweek’s website.

     Last, we can surely blame the diminished significance of Civics classes in America’s classrooms over the past several decades as being a key culprit. Now, Civics was mandatory as recent as my high school days, but some education “experts” decided to make such courses optional (or obsolete) in the 1990’s as the same pushed STEM education often at the expense of liberal arts classes.
