Social Needs of Minority/Black Older Adults in Central Florida

     Teachers, social workers, and other public servants are among those expected to benefit from recent Biden Administration efforts to expand eligibility for federal student loan forgiveness.

      One of the trailblazers in Black haircare and beauty products has passed away. Established in 1967 as Dudley Products Inc., the founder Dr. Joe L. Dudley Sr, has passed away at that age of 86. Three generations of Dudley family members have worked at Dudley Beauty Corp. and his legacy will continue to live on.

How their disaffiliation stands to have a bigger impact on their communities and why leaders are hopeful they’ll come back.

The “girl” John Glenn was referring to was Katherine Johnson, the brilliant African American mathematician, NASA Legend, and Woman of the 20th Century! John Glenn put his life in the hands of her mind instead of NASA’ electronic computers for those crucial calculations that would propel him into orbit and bring him home safely.

The selected DTU fellows will embark on a transformative journey beyond conventional internships. This experience promises exploration, learning, and, most importantly, amplifying their voices.

  The Smithsonian American Women’s History Museum has announced an exciting lineup of new initiatives for Women’s History Month March 2024 that will further the museum’s mission to make women’s history more visible. These initiatives mark an important step as the museum enters the next phase of research and programming that will eventually inform the collection and a physical site in Washington, D.C.

The YMCA of South Florida announced the 2024 recipients of the Spirit of Community Award and Dave W. Cash Youth Leadership Award in Broward County during its annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Inspirational Breakfast at First Baptist in Fort Lauderdale. Presented by JM Family Enterprises, the breakfast was one of several YMCA events held in celebration of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, that also included a Teen Town Hall at Boyd H. Anderson High School in Lauderdale Lakes, an Inspirational Luncheon in Miami and a Day of Service in both Broward and Miami-Dade counties.

     The theme for his speech was American democracy and how it relates to education, community, business, and politics.
