Atlanta pioneer and distinguished public servant Marvin Arrington, Sr. transitioned Wednesday, according to his family. Arrington was 82 years old. The Atlanta native is famously known for breaking the color barrier as one of the first two Black students admitted into Emory University Law School in 1965, along with former federal Judge Clarence Cooper.

An event aimed at creating awareness about the growing menace of gun violence that is affecting the community and memorializing some of victims of gun violence was held on July 7th, 2023, at 6:30 p.m., at Mount Calvary Baptist Church, 800 NW 8th Ave. Pompano Beach, FL.

Pictures of interracial students wading into the Atlantic to be arrested by the police were an embarrassment for the Johnson administration. Civil Rights travel.com recounted, “…white activist, Al Lingo, checked into the hotel, and invited Black protesters to join him in the pool. The site of an integrated swimming pool so outraged the hotel manager, that he ran around the pool, pouring acid into the water. It became known as “The Splash Heard Around The World.” The global shame forced LBJ to sign the act a few days later.
